Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in El Dorado Hills

Eliot Kelly with his son Ty.
Today will be the first day El Dorado Hills Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will have a Black Belt teaching all Jiu Jitsu classes! Come train and learn with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu's newest Black Belt, Eliot Kelly. Eliot brings exciting and dynamic lessons to the kids Jiu Jitsu, teens jiu jitsu, and adults jiu jitsu classes both in the gi and nogi. Each training session is unique and challenging while addressing areas of self defense, competition, and fitness. As a brown belt, Eliot has been training with the best of the best at Sacramento's premiere Brazilian Jiu Jitsu studio Yemaso BJJ, and has just received his black belt from World Champion, Marcos Torregrosa. Over the last few year's Eliot has been able to experience success at the most elite levels of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competition with the direction of world class coaching and help from his training partners in Sacramento, El Dorado Hills, and San Francisco.

Some of Eliot's most notable achievements as a brown belt:
- World Champion NoGi
- Pan American Champion NoGi
- 3x US Open Champion Gi
- Japan National Champion NoGi
- American National Champion NoGi
- Jiu Jitsu World Bronze Medalist Gi
- Jiu Jitsu Pan American Silver Medalist Gi

Although Eliot has excelled on the mat at the competition scene, he takes on many other challenges and responsibilities, as a father, a graduate student at SFSU, and as a Japanese language instructor in Sacramento. To Eliot, this is his way of living the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu lifestyle. A lifestyle where everything begins with training and challenging yourself on the mat, and taking those lessons and applying them to excel in the everyday challenges of life.
This lifestyle approach to Jiu-Jitsu is something that has been developed in El Dorado Hills over time and is taught, coached, and implemented by all jiu jitsu practitioners at EDH BJJ. Eliot has made a mark in Jiu Jitsu as a brown belt, and we are excited to see him in competition as a black belt in the next following months! Eldorado Hills Jiu Jitsu at the Mendes Brothers Seminar

On November 11, 2012 Jiu Jitsu World Champions Rafael and Guilherme Mendes came to the Sunnyvale AKA, American Kickboxing Academy for a three hour Jiu Jitsu seminar. From El Dorado Hills Jiu Jitsu we had four attendees. The four Jiu Jitsu players had a great time learning the Mendes details of the De La Riva Guard, attacks from the mount and side control.

Here are a few things that were emphasized at the Jiu Jitsu seminar:
     - The importance of having grips that work with your guard.
     - Using your legs to created distance from the guard.
     - Learning the details and understanding why things are done, not just how they are done.

The seminar was also a great opportunity for those training Jiu Jitsu in Norther California to get together under the same roof and train. Representatives from 31/50 (a Jiu Jitsu company from CA the 31st State and Hawaii the 50th State) were also present to share their passion for Jiu Jitsu. Thank you AKA Sunnyvale for hosting another incredible seminar in Northern California.

Metamoris: An Amazing JiuJitsu Show

On Sunday, October 14 El Dorado Hills Brazilian Jiu Jitsu hosted a live screening of the Metamoris Jiujitsu Show! Held in San Diego, the tournament featured 12 of the world's best JiuJitsu fighters battling in 6 twenty minute, submission only matches. Three matches ended in a draw and three ended with submissions! With over 50 people in attendance, people who do Jiu Jitsu in Folsom, Rocklin, Sacramento, and El Dorado Hills rooted for their favorites and saw some amazing Jiu Jitsu! It was awesome having so many people and families come together as one big Jiu Jitsu family.....everyone camped out on the mats, kids played, and some great food and BBQ was shared! The afternoon was the perfect example of how the Jiu Jitsu lifestyle can bring different people from different cities together to enjoy the sport they love in a small town like El Dorado Hills.
Thank you everyone for coming and sharing this spectacular event with us! We look forward to more LIVE showings of the WORLD Championships, PAN AMERICAN Championships, and other exciting Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, and Wrestling events in the future!

Jiu-Jitsu Tournament Results: US OPEN

This past weekend, on October 6 & 7, the US Open XVII Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament was held in San Jose, CA. El Dorado Hills Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fighters Eliot Kelly, Jordan Hernandez, Todd Jones, Kyle Parker, Kevin Brownell, Frank Richmond, Marshall Ayre, and Jerel Tengan competed under Team Yemaso Jiu Jitsu.
Day one of the tournament saw strong efforts from Marshall Ayre and Jordan Hernandez. Jordan took charge of his weight class and finished with a gold medal, while Marshall fought hard in his first competitive match! On day two Eliot took gold in his division and went on to take third in the absolute division, while both Todd and Jerel brought home silver medals in their weight class!
It was a great day for our team! Not only did each individual show their best effort, but Team Yemaso Jiu Jitsu set a new precedent by being the first team to bring home a team title to the Sacramento area! Team Yemaso was on the podium twice with a second place finish in the juvenile team competition and a third place finish in the adult team competition.
More than any medal, the best part of the weekend was seeing our team compete together while being able to look into the stands and see so many supporters! Friends, family members, and teammates were all their to cheer for our competitions....and nothing beats that!

A big thank you to everyone who made a contribution to getting these fighters prepared physically and mentally for this event! We are very excited about our performance as a team and can't wait to get out there for the next opportunity to represent Sacramento Jiu-Jitsu
