This was an exciting weekend for EDHBJJ when we crowned our first Pan-American Champion! One of our instructors, Eliot won the Pan No-Gi Championships for the Brown belt Super Heavy division (under 215 lbs) in New York. Here is a brief summary of his competition. In the semi-finals Eliot beat his opponent from Gracie Humanita with a triangle from the guard. In the finals, Eliot was down by an advantage point and managed to score with a sweep. From there both battled to score several more advantage points, but in the end Eliot finished ahead with his sweep points to be crowned Pan No Gi Champion. The event was hosted by the IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation) on New York Community College campus.
